TERC Facilities
The Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) is home to UC Davis’ research and education activities at Lake Tahoe. TERC facilities include:
- Laboratory inside the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences (Third Floor), Incline Village
- Thomas J. Long Foundation Education Center inside the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences (First Floor), Incline Village
- Tahoe City Field Station (also called the “Historic Fish Hatchery”)

Laboratory inside the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences
The new 11,300 sq. ft. TERC laboratory is located on the third floor of the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences (TCES) building. TCES is open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with special appointments available. Please contact lab manager Anne Liston for lab requests at (775) 881-7560, Ext. 7472.
Education Center inside the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences

The Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences (TCES) building is open Tuesday through Friday, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. with special appointments available. Volunteer docents are available for guided tours of the Education Center and TCES building, questions about exhibits, operation of 3-D Visualization Lab, and general information. Tours are available hourly during our regular Education Center hours.
Tahoe City Field Station
The Tahoe City Field Station, also known as the Historic Fish Hatchery, received a major historical renovation in 2008. The building is used for preparation and staging of field experiments, equipment construction, and boat activities. This 3,000 sq. ft. building contains offices, conference area, wet lab, scuba locker, workshop, storage and lobby for public education.
Eriksson Education Center
The Eriksson Education Center, named in memory of Paul and Helen Eriksson, offers visitors the opportunity to discover the history of the former fish hatchery, visit the current field station, learn about research at Lake Tahoe, and much more! Numerous education and outreach events are scheduled in the future. The Eriksson Education Center is open during peak summer months for self-guided tours daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with guided tours available on Saturdays Memorial Day through Labor Day. Research Vessels at Tahoe City Marina
Three UC Davis research vessels (R/V John LeConte, R/V Bob Richards and R/V Ted Frantz) are moored at the Tahoe City Marina. For on lake research requests, please contact boat captain Brant Allen at 775-881-7560, ext. 7465.
Administrative Office on UC Davis Campus
The TERC administrative office is located in the Watershed Sciences Building on the UC Davis campus in Davis, California. For campus-related requests, please contact program manager George Malyj at 530-754-8372.
